The looking glass, so shiny and new How quickly the glamour fades I start spinning, slipping out of time

Was that the wrong pill to take?
Ari watched in amusement as the people around her shuddered at the cold autumn wind. She never had a need for a coat, unless of course the temperature was below freezing than perhaps a light windbreaker would be needed. Always a bonus of being a feral mutant, you had more resistance to the weather. The bright lights of Times Square flared across the night sky creating a kaleidoscope of colors in the air. Ari wasn't exactly sure why she came down to the city that night, she never really had a need to come down to Times Square it was after all just a tourist trap that so many get themselves caught in. The only thing that Ari ever had need here was for maybe the occasional Broadway show. The crowds were always a little too much for her as well, though she could weave in and out of them with no problem, Ari never liked having so many people so close to her. Stopping along with the crowd in front of her Ari looked to the crossing light seeing the red hand. She pouted slightly noticing that she was much farther back from the curb then she wanted to be. At the rate that the humans were walking at Ari knew that she wouldn't make it through the light when it turned green.
Scanning the crowd for a break Ari moved quickly through an opening and slinked through efficiently. She knew a few people stared at her most likely wondering how she made it through the crowd so easily while others were too distracted by the lights to notice her at all. Ari tapped her foot impatiently feeling a low rumble of annoyance vibrate though her chest as she waited for the light to change when she reached the edge of the curb. She could have easily crossed the busy street without being hit by speeding cars but she decided against it knowing that some asshole would know that she's a mutant and call the police. Or worse the M.R.D. and she didn't need that so she waited like a normal person. she hated that word 'normal' she was considered abnormal by the rest of the world just because her molecular build was different. But just who the hell was anyone else to tell her that she wasn't normal. In so societies it was normal for men to beat their wives, normal for parents to sell their daughters to disgusting old me for a goat and a handful of coins. Everyones description of normal was different, Ari's idea of it was to shake what your mama and daddy gave you. Even if that included the ability to shoot lightning from your fingertips or phase through walls.
They were all such hypocrites, the Government, people in general. Their own fucking Declaration of Independence says that all men are created equal. That everyone has a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And with the Mutant Registration Act they had taken those rights away from them. Ari was old enough and had see it happen over and over again to know that the Government would not back down unless someone made them. Although the attack on Alcatraz showed them that mutant were willing to fight as well.
Ari stepped off the curb as the light turned green. Deciding that the M&Ms store looked good to go into for now. She made her way over to the entrance, chocolate was always nice. Pushing open the glass doors with ease the feral went to the escalator wanting to go to the second floor where the dispensary wall was. Stepping off the escalator Ari couldn't help but grin at all the candy she'd have to bring some back to her peeps at the mansion. Grabbing several of their largest bags Ari began filling them to the brim with a variety of M&Ms humming a nameless tune. She'd also have to pick up some booze for sure before she got back to the mansion.
